This is a generalization, of course. But I’ve noticed that teenage girls tend to get really caught up in pop culture items:
Twilight
Jonas Brothers
Celebrities
One Tree Hill
Etc.
Guys may LIKE some pop culture items, but they don’t usually obsess over them as much as girls (particularly teenage girls) do. Why is this? This is a dead serious question and it’s related to a project I may do for science fair.

Women are socially oriented. Men would rather sit in silence and not be disturbed. Pop culture is just the current social climate and girls like to think they are involved in some way.

I am not at all like that. I do not care for celebrities. I do not obsess about silly things like that. I do know many people who do love and obsess about those kinds of things though. Ive never understood why. I think its kind of like a travel round thing. Once one girl/guy likes something everybody starts to like it. Though for the whole girl/boy thing maybe its because its more of the guy nature. They like other things such as sports, food etc. I think its more of a yin yang thing. Some guys/girls have more of a side then the other. Some people are perfectly balanced. I look at it like that. L&L.

i dont care about any of that. when i was a teenageer (i am now 24) i only cared about celebrities i wanted to have sex with/was attracted to but no other ones. I dont know what Twilight is? I heard about Jonas brothers for first time last week but I dont know what they sing. (I didnt even know they were a band until I saw them on tv last week). I have never seen One tree hill but Chad micheal murray is fit but wouldnt watch it for that cause it lookd like a really crap show
I dont think all girls do at all that is a really big generalisation.

i don’t obsess over those things cuz they piss me off. ( such as twilight jonas brothers and celebrties) and i know some poeple who are way OVERLY obsessed with these things and it drives me insane. maybe cuz im kinda punk and all the people i noticed who obsess over these things cuz they are stupid preps ( jonas brothers). and for twilight they are kinda book-y geeky people who like cheap romance cuz they dont get any romance. but not sure of the others though

Guys are into pop culture, too…it’s just a different kind of pop culture. Their Twilight is Halo, their celebrities are quarterbacks and wrestlers, etc. It’s just like what my mom says: little boys play with dolls, too…They’re called action figures.
