Who is the Renaissance Italian poet whose sonnets were so popular i Shakespheres day? Were studying about Romeo + Juliet and i need help in this question.

    It is Petrarch, whose name is quoted in Romeo and Juliet. He wrote a series of sonnets called Canzoniere that established the literary codes for love poetry in Europe.
