I’m 15 and I love drinking a lot of pop and eating really unhealthy but I’m trying to change my lifestyle. I just can’t stop drinking pop no matter what, but I was wondering if I tried drinking orange juice if that would be more healthy for me? Obviously it would be more healthy than soda, but would it be healthy? If not what else besides water would be good for me?

Juice is a better choice than soda that’s for sure, but too much of anything can be a bad thing and juice -tho better for you especially with added Vitamins or calcium – still has a lot of empty sugar calories.
And you can do anything you decide to to. Starting is always the hardest part but it – whatever it is – gets easier until it becomes what you do.
When I wanted to stop drinking soda, I switched to seltzer water (carbonized like soda without the empty calories of sweeteners)- which first made me go “arghhhh!” – but after a while, I got used to it and now it is my favorite, most refreshing beverage. And it’s just water, which is good for me – with no added nothin’ and no empty calories.
Anyway – good for you for knowing that healthier eating habits are important for life. Stick with it.

Orange juice is highly acidic and will erode teeth and your esophagus lining along with your stomach if you constantly drink lots of it. I’d try diluting the OJ with water so you have the taste but less acidity.
Gatorade is a great drink in many ways in that if gives you the necessary minerals you require to preform (mentally and physically) your best. Limit it to one bottle a day unless you are ill and dehydrated.

Most juices they sell in the grocery store actually have a ton of added sugar in them, so they aren’t the best alternative to soda. If you’re going to replace soda with juice, I would suggest getting juice with no sugar added. The added sugar usually takes away any health benefits from drinking the juice. Though the best alternative is water!!

Oh of course. And yes you can stop drinking pop, those are lazy excuses. Tell your parents to stop buying Soda or at least tell yourself to make sure you dont drink it. I remember when I would a whole pack of Coke, I would want to buy another one, but didnt and thats how the urge of drinking soda stops. Drink any type of juice, it is healthy, you get a few fruit intakes into your body. I also suggest more water, even flavour it if you dont like plain.
