I use them every year…..I have never had a problem….I see them pop and I always just double check with my thermometer and they are accurate every year….so I would say they are safe.

I watched something about those things on the Food Network, and I’m pretty sure they work.
Just to be safe, you should use both (turkey pop-up timer and meat thermometer).

I never trust them, I have no idea if they work the way they are supposed to. I always use a meat thermometer, I don’t want to make any of my loved ones sick.

Depends where you stick em! Make sure you stick-em in the right place, otherwise if they hit the bone or are just on the outter layer – it could mean trouble!

To me, they are unreliable. They have some kind of substance at their base that supposedly gets heated up to a certain point and expands, causing the timer to pop up. Basting fluids can affect them and cause them to pop before the full time of cooking is reached.
You probably spent a lot on the turkey – I would spend a few more bucks on a meat thermometer and be sure….
